Eastern Beaches Day Course - Bondi Beach

The Eastern Beaches course is a hands on course run entirely in the field for photographers of all levels. Participants will be instructed on photographic techniques and skills from the ground up while surrounded by the beautiful and famous Bondi Beach.

Bondi Beach is easily the best beach in Sydney to photograph with high vantage points at each end, classic ocean baths, neighbouring spots like Gordon's Bay with little boats, offering students a wide range of compositions to photograph to put the days teachings into practice as we lead up to shooting (hopefully a crazy) sunset together.

Should the conditions be right on the day we will also cover the concepts and techniques behind shooting surfers as well.

This course ideal for beginners and amateurs looking to develop a solid understanding on how to use their camera, it's functions and to consistently take quality photographs that are perfectly exposed and sharp.

A maximum of 8 participants per course.

The Eastern Beaches Day course is a course that is perfect for beginners to serious amateur photographers. This course will cover the basics of camera set up and functions through to detailed image capture techniques.

At the end of the day you will have a solid understanding of your camera and it's settings, you will be shooting all your images in "Manual" and perfecting them using the histogram so you have perfect exposures every time. You will understand the relationship between shutter speed, aperture and iso and how to use these settings for best results and also the correct use of additional equipment like graduated filters, polarises etc.

You will also know the concepts and techniques behind capturing digital panoramic's.

The Eastern Beaches Day Course is a great opportunity to walk around the Bondi area and shoot Bondi from the lookouts at both ends. Get up close and person with the beautiful photogenic ocean baths.

Come the end of the day we will pick the best of the locations visited to shoot the setting sun, putting in practice all of the days teachings to re enforce that the workflow taught works in any situation.

:: WHERE, START TIMES AND COURSE COSTS

Our Eastern Beaches course will start meeting on the foot path at the end of Beach Street. From here it is a very short walk to our first shooting location where we start things off.

All courses go for approximately 7 to 8 hours, so depending on the time of year, your course could start at 9am and go until 5pm in Winter or 1pm to 8.30pm in Summer.

All of my group day courses cost $260 and it includes full days photography instruction, 50 page work booklet and access to the Rubbing Pixels Web site.

All courses are taught by myself and on some course I may have my assistant with me

:: WHAT KIND OF CAMERA DO I NEED FOR THIS COURSE

To get the most from this course you need to have a digital slr camera. It doesn't matter how old it is or what lenses you have or its brand.

If you have an advanced point and shoot camera like the Fuji Fine pix, Powershots etc that can shoot on Manual settings then I can certainly show you how to get the most from the camera.

If in doubt about your camera let me know and I will happily tell you.

:: THE COURSE WORKBOOK AND RUBBING PIXELS

All my courses are accompanied by a detailed 50 page booklet that outlines the courses content that is taught and expanded upon on the day.

The booklet serves as a head up before the day and your point of reference afterwards.

All students booked on my group courses will receive student access to my site Rubbing Pixels to also assist with their image editing and further education.

:: WHAT DO I NEED TO DO THIS COURSE

To undertake this course you will need a camera and if possible a tripod. I have numerous tripods of my own that I am happily to lend on the day to those who don't have one or would like to do the day first and see what tripods work best.

If you don't have a camera and would like t still do the course then I don't mind allowing you to use my own Canon 5D MkII, though I will need it during the day to teach, but other than that it is yours for the day.
