Overview:

My popular one on one day course with a twist. Over two days we will discuss and put into practice all the techniques and processes I use in the capture of my images. From there we will head into the lab and cover the steps and processes to image development using programs such as Photoshop and Lightroom to maximize the potential of your image.

We will take your image from production to being print ready and then print your image. While also discussing the importance of colour management and colour accurate printing.

On booking this course your Rubbing Pixels membership will be created. It will be important for beginners to watch the tutorials to give yourself an understanding of the application. For those familiar with photoshop the site will allow us to focus on the higher end of image development.

This course is ideal for photographers looking to get a head start in making an income from their photography or those wanting the full package from instruction on capture, edit, print and packaging of your work for home / exhibition display or sale.

This course is only offered on the Central Coast.

On our first day we will cover all aspect of digital capture from camera set up to histogram perfecting your images and shooting techniques including digital panoramic's / exposure and shutter blending. During the day we will head into the lab and process some of the shots and begin an introduction to image development. We will end this day with a sunset shoot.

On day two we start with a sunset shoot and then break for breakfast and recommence back in the lab where we process the sunset and sunrise shoot images using a post production workflow through to printing your images.

  • Roger - Sydney
Having been a keen photographer for some time, I held professional landscape photographers in awe bewildered by their outcomes. Getting close to those standards seemed unobtainable. I was given a one day course with Matt as a present. I had no idea what to expect, but was confident that at the end of the day I would be a better photographer, but suspected that the difference would be minimal - after all how much could I learn in just one day.

Matt immediately assessed my photographic skills, and structured the day to my abilities. Fundamentals that I understood, but not fully appreciated, were explained and demonstrated. Within the first few minutes I became a better photographer, and the improvement continued. By the end of the day I was shooting landscapes at a standard that I thought I was beyond my capabilities. Very importantly I can now take a great photo in all sorts of conditions, no longer concerned that changing weather conditions will compromise my photographs.

How much did I learn in one day? Well, far more than I ever anticipated. Take the plunge and do a course with Matt, you will not be disappointed, and enjoy the accolades from family and friends about your photographs.

    Roger. Sydney, Australia. June 2008.

    Hi Matt
What a fabulous day, thank you so much for the overall basics and especially the inside tips at the beginning of the day / and it just got better as the day got longer… more details and more techniques. I have just had a look at the images I made today and already they are better than anything I have taken in the past...Thanks again for a great day of training. I wanted to learn how to operate my camera fully and take great photos and that's what I got from your course.

    Cheers, Rosie

Thanks again for a great day.  I really feel much, much more confident with landscape photography and even enough to say that i feel that I have a good grasp of the techniques involved.  Your teaching style is very good and covers many aspects of landscape photography.  I learnt so much yet realise that there is a lot more to learn.  Your guidance and communication skills particularly lend to a positive learning experience.  In other feedback,  I thought the time spent at Ken Duncan's gallery was a good idea and has potential to spend time discussing the techniques used in the art / industry, pros and cons of various photos etc...
Thanks heaps for your expertise and advice.
    regards
    Anthony
